We Support Upendo Orphans in Kenya to reduce the stigma of HIV

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name's Hannah and last year I visited this charity to help out, see how it's working and to try to spread the word about what they are doing, so more people become aware of their fantastic work.

They take in Orphans in the Kilifi, Kenya area and provide them with a home environment with mosquito nets and 3 meals a day. They're teaching them a variety of skills and providing them with an education so that they can better themselves and take control of their future. As well as this, they provide medical care and check ups to make sure they're healthy and well.

I decided that I would do a skydive as I am completely terrified and want to experience the 'what if' as you step or in my case fall into unknown. Knowing that without the support of external people, Upendo Orphan Project wouldn't have been able to look after so many children who would have otherwise turned to street crime and begging for survival. Therefore I feel that this is a challenge I am willing to take on, if it will benefit those that need help, even if I have to be dragged and pushed out.

We support upendo orphan support project, a grassroots project in Kilifi Town in coastal Kenya. In 2002, while living in the area, our 3 founding trustees met an incredible group of local women, supporting orphans out of their own pocket. Orphans live with guardians, but come to the support centre for education, meals and counselling.
