Story
I have fortunately been selected to run the 2024 TCS London Marathon on behalf of APEC (Action on Pre-Eclampsia) - a charity which raises awareness, improves care, and provides support to those affected by pre-eclampsia - a serious pregnancy complication, affecting up to 10% of pregnancies.
In 2021, my sister fell pregnant with my nephew, and what started off as a normal pregnancy, ended up in a very scary, quick, and blurry birth caused by late-onset pre-eclampsia. Luckily, both my sister and nephew came out healthy; however, this isn’t the case for many. Pre-eclampsia leads to the death of around 1000 babies in the UK each year. Worldwide every 6 minutes a woman dies from pre-eclampsia.
I feel so grateful to be able to say that both my sister and nephew are alive and well. This charity is one that I hold close to my heart and I couldn’t think of anything more meaningful to me than being able to support it while running the London Marathon - a massive dream of mine.
