Story
As Westminster Award finalists with CVQO, 15 of us are raising money towards a target of £2000 which will be split between the 6 different charities that we worked with on our Cornwall expedition. Each of these charities follow our theme of Think Global, Act Local.
The money raised here will go towards the following charities:
The Eden Project
An educational charity and visitor attraction that take on around 50,000 school children every year to take part in workshops and play sessions. They also work with communities in Cornwall and all across the UK to improve wellbeing, happiness and inspire positive change.
ShelterBox
A relief aid charity, ShelterBox provides shelter, essential items and technical assistance to help some of the world’s most vulnerable people recover and rebuild their homes after disaster.
Surfers Against Sewage
Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a marine conservation & campaigning charity inspiring, uniting & empowering communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and wildlife.
The Wave Project
The Wave Project is an award winning UK charity that helps vulnerable children and young people improve their health and wellbeing through a combination of surfing and mentoring.
The National Trust
Europe’s largest conservation charity founded in 1895 to look after places across England, Wales and Northern Ireland so people and nature can thrive.
Cornwall Wildlife Trust
Cornwall Wildlife Trust manages over 50 nature reserves, including an island for wildlife and people in Cornwall. They also work with other organisations and landowners to protect and connect wildlife sites across the county and inspire local communities and young people to care for wildlife where they live.
To help fundraise, I have challenged myself to climb the Cutty Sark mast on the 24th September. This involves climbing up the ratlines and stepping out onto the ships topsail yard.
