OVER £3500 RAISED ALREADY!!! - THANK YOU!

Dear Supporter

Thanks for visiting the Swimming For Survival donation page!

On Saturday 6th February the Swimming For Survival team comprising a group of energetic and committed schoolchildren from Guildford did an incredible job to raise funds for Haiti and the Save The Children projects based on the island.

Conceived and organized by Millie Proffit, a seven-year old girl who attends Tormead School in Guildford, the Swimming For Survival team’s final number of participants reached over fifty with the teams swimming in relay for up to two hours at Guildford Spectrum with many friends and family watching and cheering them on – one team managing to swim over 500 lengths!

Additional volunteers for the event collected donations from the visiting public at Spectrum and the team was also sponsored by many local businesses many of whom are still offering their support to continue to raise funds.  By the close of Saturday’s event, the team’s Justgiving page showed a total of over £3000 and the fund continues to increase, due to continued interest in the event and the generosity of the community. All of the proceeds will go to Save The Children (www.savethechildren.org.uk) with the Swimming For Survival Fund going towards providing food, water, shelter, medical supplies and continuing education for the children of Haiti. Millie Proffit said of the event, ‘I really wanted to help the people of Haiti following the earthquake and I’m so pleased that so many friends and family took part in Swimming For Survival. It was a really fun day and a great way to raise some money!’

The event has also captured the attention of the wider media – many radio stations highlighting Swimming For Survival including BBC Radio who invited Millie to go on their breakfast show on the day of the event helping her to raise awareness and increase donations.

The Swimming For Survival fund is still welcoming donations for Haiti and making a donation couldn’t be more simple.

Thank you so much

The Swimming For Survival Team!
