Story
My WiSH Charity launched our Help your NHS Hospital Covid Appeal at the start of the pandemic back in March 2020.
Since then donations have enabled us to support West Suffolk Hospital and Newmarket Community Hospital and all the community services they provide during the Coronavirus crisis.
Although the West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has been under increased pressure during this crisis it hasn't stopped providing the best care possible and staff have continued to go above and beyond caring for us and our loved ones.
The country has being asked to work from home, social distance from loved ones, stay indoors, and stay safe but our INCREDIBLE NHS staff have been unable to do that. They have been on the front line everyday 24/7 to be there for us all and continue to do so today.
As 2022 begins we all know that the pandemic is far from over. We continue to support staff and care for patients on a daily basis.
Your donations have allowed us to provide:
- psychological support for staff
- calm rooms to give them a quiet area away from the wards
- marquees to allow for socially distanced breaks
- Samsung tablets so new overseas nurses could train while completing their isolation period
- staff welfare packs for those isolating or struggling financially
- parasols and benches so staff could take their breaks outside
- labels so staff could easily be identified in full PPE
- fabric so our wonderful community could make scrubs
- equipment for teams who now needed to reach out to patients virtually
Donations have also allowed us to support patients by providing DVD players and tablets so they could watch TV, radios and CD players for the warms, crafts and games and puzzles, cordless phones and a £4,000 RITA (reminiscence interactive therapy activities) monitor for patients with impaired cognitive skills.
The list is endless and we couldn't have done it without you but we still need to do more to support staff and patients until this crisis is over.
