Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Due to being offered a new position overseas within the company and as means of celebration I have arranged a Whisky Tour Bus Run for a few colleagues and friends who have supported me throughout my career whilst in the North Sea and more importantly over the last year in which has been personally very difficult for me, Obviously due to the nature of our jobs offshore and people having other commitments, it hasn't been possible to have everyone there whom I would like but I am lucky enough to have 18 guys available to make it and as a gift of appreciation for their support I have covered all the costs for this day and all I would request is that if those attending or anyone else reading this supports my chosen local Tarves run charity and want to make any donation to help cancer suffering children throughout Scotland that you take the time out to donate to this very worthwhile cause..
Tarves Loon Hamish Dear was the much loved son of Hollie & Kris and was born in October 2012. And like all parents it was a whirlwind but immediately they knew this was what we were meant to be. Hamish filled their lives with laughter and love. Watching their son develop, grow, laugh, smile, question the world, understand, and feel safe within their arms was a gift and nothing could compare. His sense of humour and caring nature is something they will never forget.
In February 2015 Hamish was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma. For 9 months he battled bravely and Hollie & Kris were filled with love and pride when they think of him. Hamish had tough times but his funny, inquisitive and cheeky nature always shone through. Infact, it burst through. They always had hope and saw the cancer was gradually reducing, infact his last scans had shown no visible signs of disease. Their boy, their son, their world was getting better.
Suddenly and tragically in the blink of an eye complications arose from an undetected cancer on Hamish's brain. Sadly but peacefully Hamish passed away on 14.11.15 surrounded by his family. Their world fell apart.
Hamish Dear's Warm Hugs was formed in Hamish's memory by his lovely parents Hollie & Kris in February 2016 and they were formally awarded charitable status in May 2016. Hamish Dear's Warm Hugs is based on their experience of having a child with a cancer diagnosis and wanting to make the good days great. Hamish Dear's Warm Hugs provides financial assistance to children who have a cancer diagnosis and are being treated at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow by funding day activities, short breaks and gifts. Their mission is to 'keep children smiling through their toughest battles'.
