I have decided to do another trek for charity, with three great friends, Will Ayling, Tony Pritchard, Simon Stannard, this time raising money for Fybromyalgia Action UK (FMA UK) a great charity that supports people suffering from this on a daily basis. Just like my friend Hayley Graham. Currently there is no cure for Fibromyalgia.

What is Fibromyalgia ? Fibromyalgia, also known as fibromyalgia syndrome, is a chronic condition that characteristically causes pain all over the body, including muscle and joint pain, and fatigue as well as other symptoms. Fibromyalgia can lead to depression and social isolation. Women are 10 times more likely to suffer from this than men.

A message from my friend Hayley...

Hi My Name is Hayley Graham and I am, along with thousands of other people, a Fibromyalgia sufferer.
Fibromyalgia Syndrome (FMS) can affect anybody at any age, although between the age of 30 and 50 is most common and women seem to suffer seven times more than men.
FMS is a debilitating condition with excruciating pain throughout the body. It is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Although symptoms seem to be the same for sufferers, the level of pain can be anywhere along the spectrum scale.
6 years ago I was a primary school teacher running around the playground during PE lessons etc and 40/50 lengths at the swimming pool 3 times a week BEFORE going to work!! Now my day consists of a cocktail of medicine including Morphine to help me get through the day.
My personal pain levels range from a good day where for example I may have aching muscles, spine and hip pain with itchy skin to a bad day where my pain is so bad I cant even get out of bed. It is excruciating! Bones feel like they are crumbing with barbed wire wrapped round each one and it being pulled so tight, glass shards stuck in the bottom of my feet, a burning feeling throughout my body that is just indescribable, severe headaches and much much more. I cannot walk without crutches and I have had to have adaptions to my home such as a wet room installed and hand rails in various rooms. I am 44 and desperately need new approaches towards the treatment of FMS as I will not give up hope that ....this cant possibly be my life now!?
Gregg, and friends, after seeing my deterioration over the past few years, have been so kind to do their annual charity walk for Fibromyalgia Action UK. More up to date treatments need to be found for FMS sufferers which will then hopefully lead towards a cure.
YOU can help with this. Please donate as much as you can afford...even if that is just £1 ...If we have 40 people do that its another £40 towards the charity!!!
Thank you
Hayley

We will start our walk from Winchester on the morning of 16th April 2016, at approx 8am. Will Ayling, Tony Pritchard, Simon Stannard and myself. We will finish the walk in Eastbourne. Some 110miles later, which includes walking to and from our accommodation each day. There will be sweat, tears, & lots of laughs, and hopefully this time no swollen ankles.

You can follow our story each day on Twitter: @moggdm

Or on Facebook: Gregg Morrish - for updates and lots of photos.

Many thanks for your support and kind donation, it means a lot. It also makes the tears and all the pain worthwhile.

regards

Gregg Morrish
