Men's Health Survival of the Fittest Challenge · 17 October 2010
Hello, thank you for visiting my Justgiving Page.
Now a wee bit of backgroung to me and why I want to raise money for my chosen charity - The Fire Fighters Charity.
I'm Gregg, a fire fighter with Fife Fire and Rescue Service. I'm with Blue Watch based at Methil in Fife.
A few months ago Pete on my Watch announced he was gonna take part in the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest Challenge http://www.mhsurvival.co.uk/page34.asp and would any other members of our Watch be interested in entering. For some unknown reason I stupidly said I would.........it had been a few years since I'd last done any long distance running! Time to dig out my old running shoes and get back out running. Oh the joy:) Thankfully its not only myself and Pete who are daft enough to enter, Colin Speight, Craig Friel, Brian Harcus and Paddy Beattie are bonkers enough to have said "yes" to it too:) They've all got age on their side.......as I'm....er.....the only one over 40....ouch!
So to make all the pain and hard work of the training and run worth while, I'd do it for a charity. I chose the Fire Fighters Charity, as I know of a few fire fighters and ex-fire fighters who have benifited from some of the excellent services the charity offers to them and their families. For more information on what the charity does, please visit their home page http://www.firefighterscharity.org.uk/
So please give generously.
Thanks,
Gregg

19/9/10 Out running again.....few days after my 41st birthday.....can think of far more fun things to do :)
14/10/10 Only a few days left till "the big day".......
17/10/10 Well I managed it!! I aimed for a time of around 1 and a half hours and did it in 1 hour 26 mins. I'm very pleased with that.
Was very hard going, new Edinburgh had a few hill, seems like I climbed most of them.
