Story
We are living in very challenging times. We are all having to make some form of sacrifice or live through some form of hardship due to the global pandemic. But for many of us, this comes down to simple limits on our lives, no longer going to the pub, working from home or having to wear a mask when we enter a shop. It is very easy to forget that for some people, life is not so easy. There are many people who rely heavily on charities and volunteers just to get from one day to the next. During the lockdowns, these charities have been working tirelessly to provide continued support and we have to applaud them for that.
What we forget, is that many of these charities, especially those small local charities that don't have massive fundraising machines behind them, have been struggling. They have been unable to hold their usual fundraising events. without which they cannot continue to provide their services and support.
It is for this reason that I have decided to take some action and see if I can help out.
I have chosen to have a go at raising funds for the chilterns multiple sclerosis centre. This is a charity that provides much needed long term treatment and support for those diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, through physio therapy, hydro-therapy, oxygen treatment, and a range of emotional support activities.
So I am going to take up the movember challenge and grow a mustache through november. Now that sounds pretty easy I know, but, to be honest, it is driving me nuts already and it is only 12 days in.
So I have decided to spice it up a bit. If I manage to raise the £1000 target, then I will also shave my head when I finally shave off the mustache on the 1st December. This I am sure will not go down well with the family.
So please all of you donate to my cause. And also please take up the call to action and see if there is a local charity that you can help out with your own fund raising activity.
