Story

We are a group of year 12 students from The King’s School (Ottery St Mary) who are fundraising for The Goodwill Children’s Home in Tamil Nadu, India.

During this world pandemic, the children in this orphanage would be extremely grateful for your support. For more than 40 years the Goodwill Children’s Homes have provided orphaned and destitute children from disadvantaged tribal areas in Tamil Nadu with a loving home and access to quality education. Through their Indian partners, Goodwill ensures long-term care and education to children from very poor backgrounds who are often orphaned at a young age; many have no one to look after them and the support provided by Goodwill allows them the opportunity for a brighter future.

We would like to challenge you to join us to raise money for this cause by walking, running or cycling part of the air mile distance to Tamil Nadu from Ottery St Mary, 5268 miles. Then nominate 4 other people to do this and donate any amount of money to this amazing cause (100% of the money goes straight to this charity). Direct message the Instagram account get_to_india when you have completed the mileage to tell us how far you have gone or comment on this page the distance after you have made your donation. This way we can keep count of the mileage and work out how many days it has taken us to get to India!

Please may I thank you in advance for your help and kindness.

About the charity

Goodwill Children's Homes support the care and education of destitute children, and we help them become independent, self-supporting members of society. We fund children’s homes, a school, and a Tribal Outreach Programme (TORP) that encourage tribal communities to send their children to school.
