In memory of Gerald Cronin

On March 2nd 2016, Gerald was diagnosed with terminal Cancer of the Oesophagus, which had mets to his lungs and bones. What followed was a very tough but special time, with him being cared for at home by Paula, his devoted wife and partner in crime, supported by daughters Caroline and Jennie.
On October 8th 2016, Gerry's illness had progressed to the point where it became necessary to move him to the Wisdom Hospice in Rochester, Kent. It is a wonderful, caring, attentive and calming place, run by brilliant staff who did everything they could to make Gerry comfortable, as well as look after his family. Gerry called the nurses his "angels" - which was unusually sentimental for him, so that tells you how lovely they are!
Even in his final days, when Gerry was unresponsive, the staff continued to give him the best personal care imaginable to ensure he maintained his dignity. They even offer a lot of support to the families of patients, including counselling, massages...and even afternoon tea!
On November 2nd 2016, Gerry quietly passed away at the hospice, with his wife Paula by his side.
Whilst the medical elements of the hospice are NHS funded, all the extras - from the beautiful terrace, to the recreational areas, to the basics like tea and biscuits - are funded by donations and staffed by volunteers.
It's a very special place, and Gerry's family are kindly asking anyone who wants to show their love, to donate to Wisdom Hospice. This will help them continue their amazing work, and ensure that other people in our situation in the Medway area, will recieve the best care that anyone could hope for.
Thank you so much, and love to all.
