Story

Myself and colleagues from Santander are supporting Brian Burnie and the charity ‘Bluebell Cancer patient care’. For those native to the North East you may already know Brian and the amazing work he has done as founder of ‘Daft as a brush’ in Gosforth. His dream is to now expand this service across the whole of Great Britain and Ireland, offerIng to those patients in need free transport to and from hospital to receive treatment.

For the last 2.5 years Brian has been walking the UK and Irish coastlines to raise money. On the 23rd September he’ll be completing the final leg back to The Baltic Centre in Gateshead (where he started) having covered an unbelievable 7000 miles. What makes this achievement even more amazing is the fact Brian is 75 years old and suffers from Parkinson’s disease.

In the month of September colleagues from the North East region of Santander have taken up the challenge to collectively cover the same 7000 mile distance!!!

Hartlepool branch have committed to completing 500 miles so please support us for this brilliant cause :)
