Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
George was diagnosed with bowel cancer in September 2019 and needed to receive chemotherapy and radiotherapy. During this time George continued to work as a specialist making Hardy fishing reels, where he worked for 37 years.
In January 2021 George needed a major operation, which resulted in him being fitted with a Stoma bag. During the next few months, George’s cancer spread rapidly to other parts of his body, which resulted in him becoming very poorly and needing to be at home.
It was at this point the local Macmillan nurse suggested we ask HospiceCare for support. Maxine from HospiceCare came in to talk to us as a family and to assess what support George needed. Following this, we received twice-daily visits from HospiceCare’s Hospice at Home team and this support continued until he died.
We can’t thank HospiceCare enough for enabling George to die at home, which was his wish. Their Hospice at Home team became a part of our family, so we are now asking for donations to support this amazing local charity, to enable them to continue delivering their specialist care and support to our local communities,
I would like to invite you to watch a short film produced by HospiceCare of my story via this link: https://youtu.be/tSuU5ii4XPk
Thank you so much.
