Last Christmas I spent a month in Southern India visiting my Great Uncle James at his charity 'Reaching The Unreached' and decided I wanted to help raise money for this worthy cause.
I will be cycling 2000 miles down the pacific coast of the USA from Canada to Mexico with four old school friends, camping overnight and boiling plenty of pasta each night to keep us going.
My Great Uncle left the UK and set up the charity in 1974 to provide a safe haven for orphaned and abandoned children, he has spent his whole life working to help the poor in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, and still works every day at the age of 88 (no early retirement!).
What started with one family of orphans is now 1000 children in 4 Children’s Villages with schools, medical centres, a house-building programme for the most disadvantaged families and outreach programmes in one of the poorest areas of India. He has had a huge impact on many thousands of lives which will last for generations to come.
We have been training hard with cycles around the Isle of White, in Belgium (nice and flat) and across Kent (not so flat), and are all getting are equipment at the ready.
Thank you for reading and I hope you can help with a sponsorship of any amount!
