THE RUNNING COSTS FOR ONE OF OUR EIGHT BIKES IS £3000 PER YEAR. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE ISSUES SUCH AS BIKE REPLACEMENT.
This is why I have chosen my target figure. It would be really helpful to cover the running costs of one bike for a year.
MY JULY CHALLENGE IS:
1. To ride 200 miles on a push bike.
2. To row 50 miles on a rowing machine.
3. The finale will be having my Lock Down Locks shaved off. My hair is quite long now as it has not been cut since the second week of March 2020. I really like my long hair so It will be quite an event when it is shaved, but the cause is well worth it.
I will be posting progress updates here and on other social media platforms.
I love riding motorcycles and support our wonderful NHS, so 5 years ago I decided to put the two together and joinThe Midland Freewheelers. I have completed over 800 jobs in that time, all FREE OF CHARGE to our local NHS trust. The group membership is in access of 120 people who are all volunteers. We run 8 motorcycles and two cars that we fundraiser to purchase and keep on the road. The pandemic has made it almost impossible to raise funds as we would normally and is making it very difficult to keep the vehicles on the road.
We run a 24/7 365 day service. During May this year we completed 650 jobs at no cost to the NHS. The job type varies from delivering blood to hospitals to collecting Covid and blood samples for testing at pathology labs across the Trusts area.
The group have been in existence for over 10 years and completed in access of 20,000 jobs for the NHS - completely free of charge. My own contribution to this is over 800 jobs.
It is not possible to put a figure on the savings for the NHS but they would be substantial over the 10 years that the group has been in existence.
Being able to continue offering our service during the pandemic has myself and other group members a sense of achievement, knowing that the money that we have saved the NHS could be put to helping support front line services.
Please donate as much as you can to help us continue with this free vital service and show your support for our NHS.
Thank you.
