Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In November 2016, out of the blue, I found that I had a large tumour on my left kidney. I was feeling fine but it made itself known. Two months later, in January 2017, I underwent a radical nephrectomy (removal of the whole kidney) at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford. I made an excellent recovery and needed no ongoing therapies, just a scan every six months. I realise that I have been incredibly lucky. Others have not been so fortunate. I want to raise money for Ucare (Urology Cancer Research and Education). It's aim is to fund the best quality research by bringing together the knowledge and opinions of researchers, clinicians, and allied health professionals to support research and education in urological cancer. It includes kidney, bladder, prostate, testicular and penile cancers.
I plan to start on 17 March 2018. The walk should take five weeks. I will be blogging at http://litehikersblog.blogspot.co.uk so please follow my progress.
