Story
A year ago we got a request from Perthshire Gun Dog Rescue who were inundated with requests to rehome pet dogs. This was only days after our PGR adopted Tanya the American Cocker died fatally on a mountain.
Kalee the cocker was out of control and the family she’d known all her 3 years just couldn’t live safely with her aggression. They had been advised to euthanise her, but were desperate for someone to give her a second chance. We took her on and fostered her.
Our first few months with her were very stressful and PGR even suggested that she might not be suitable for rehabilitation and it would be understandable if we accepted defeat.
However we persevered and soon realised that we could recognise her warning signs and avoid situations. We upped her exercise and left her to choose when to come to us for affection and in doing so she built up so much trust (and fitness).
In recent months Mac and Kalee have been training hard together for a demanding challenge to take place over 3 days (including 2 nights wild camping in Perthshire’s most remote areas). From Friday 1st July to Sunday 3rd we are going to attempt to complete (unassisted and self sufficient), the 64miles of the Cateran Trail with our friend Jennifer.
You are welcome to join us on all, or part, of the challenge and we hope you will support us and sponsor with a donation
Thank you Mac, Jennifer and the star of the show Kalee the Cocker aka Butter Wouldnt Melt
