Today my little sister Gemma would have been celebrating her 30th birthday. Three years ago she died very suddenly of a blood clot.
I've been struggling lately with Gemma's death - three years may sound like a long time, but it's a drop in the ocean when it comes to losing someone you love very dearly. For most, celebrating turning 30 is a momentous day - I've no doubt in my mind (and anyone who knew Gem will agree with this!) that Gemma would've started the party days ago had she have been here, but instead, today our family will be taking balloons and a card to her grave. Hard to comprehend.
My aim of posting this is not to depress anyone that reads it!....My aim is to get people remembering Gem for the amazing, beautiful, fun & loving girl that she was - and in doing so, hopefully inspire people to start living life the way they really want to. You truly don't know what tomorrow holds.
I also want your money! The only thing that i'm able to do as a birthday present to her is to help others the way she would have done. This is where you come in....Gemma supported a charity in Mozambique called Project Moz. Through this charity she sponsored a little boy named Ricardo who was brought to the All Nations orphanage in Mozambique at just 6 months old after his mother died of AIDS. He is now 7 years old and doing really well - http://www.projectmoz.com/#/casa-gemma/4568312134
So what I'd really like to do is raise at least £200 for Project Moz in the next day or so....please, please, please help me. If everyone that knows Gem (or knows how special she was through me) donates £5 we'd get there in no time....the girl had a lot of friends!
And please raise a glass in memory of our beautiful Gem tonight (or anytime today infact if we're going to celebrate in true Gemma-style....!)
