Story
To head towards the finish line for this challenge after injury and personal setbacks. I have set a date to run an ultra run this year all to raise money in order to support young people at The Clare School.
Friday 22nd December - the shorest day of the year. I will be running from dawn to dusk with the goal of completing 50km in the daylight hours.
At The Clare School, we are determined to provide our pupils with the best facilities possible. We are in the middle of setting up a ‘Sensory & Mobility’ Trail around the school to support our pupils to develop their physical skills and to make our school environment more engaging and vibrant.
For our pupils, 75% of whom are wheelchair users, spending time each day undertaking physiotherapy and postural management and practising using wheelchairs and walkers is one of the most important things that they do. It is vital to keep bones and muscles healthy and support our pupils to be as strong and independent as they can possibly be.
This is such an expensive project though, specialist equipment is not cheap! Take a look at some of the things we need to buy - and how expensive they are!
We have to rely on our fantastic supporters who raise money for us to make these improvements; Improvements that will make a world of difference to Norfolk’s most disabled and vulnerable pupils, many of whom are only here for very short lives.
We are honoured that Gemma is undertaking these gruelling challenges to support us and make the lives of our pupils better - thank you so much!
