Story
Despite my injury prone knees - I'm sure you can all count my numerous visits to A&E with the latest dislocation! I've decided to swap my Ugg's for trainers and run the Manchester 10K on 20th May 2012 to raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation. They are a charitable organisation established to fund research to prevent meningitis and septicaemia and to improve survival rates and outcomes. The Foundation promotes education and awareness to reduce death and disability and gives support to people affected.
Some of you will know that my Uncle, Chris Nester was a victim of Meningitis in 2005. Aged 32 he became very ill very quickly with earache and headache symptoms. Admitted to hospital with a suspected brain haemorrhage he was not diagnosed with meningitis until it was too late. He left behind his wife of 8 years and his 3 young children.
Your donation will assist in educating the public and ensuring those struck down with meningitis have a better chance of surviving.
Fingers crossed my unreliable knees hold out and I cross the finish line!!
