Story
This year instead of donations of items I am instead asking for donations to put towards our festive arrangements at Holman House. (Thought this was the sensible option due to C19). This year has been extremely tough for our guys with lack of access to mental health services and GP’s, reduced face to face contact and loneliness.
I need your help now more than ever due to funding cuts in the charity sector. Myself and my team want to give the residents the most kindness and support they can get, especially at this time of year. Loneliness kills and prevention of suicide is a real challenge. Your donation might just save a life.
At Holman House we provide supported accommodation to 19 people who come to us as homeless and are experiencing difficulty with their mental health, addiction and sometimes offending. We offer a psychologically informed environment and do our best to ensure residents feel safe and supported with us, learn the skills they need and access the right treatment and support so they can achieve their long term goals and sustain a tenancy independently, with floating support from us initially.
This year we are raising funds for the following:
Advent Calendars
A wooden table and chairs for the kitchen area to have dinner together
Christmas Tree and lights
Ingredients & crackers, napkins etc for Christmas Day dinner so those without family or friends can come together on 25/12/21 and share a meal, play games and not be alone.
A console for the living room to aid social interaction and encourage people out of their rooms
A meal in December with staff and residents
A present/voucher for each resident
Emergency food supplies to cover December the UC cut has hit our guys hard, some are getting as little as £250 a month to live on after deductions.
Thank you to those who help me out every year. You are amazing. Please share with all of your friends and business that may be able to help and spread the word.
Best Wishes,
Gemma
