Our son Angus was born 6 years ago with a rare genetic condition called Ellis-van Creveld syndrome. This resulted in him having problems with his heart and lungs. Despite a long stay in hospital when he was a baby, he pulled through with the assistance of a portable ventilator and oxygen. He was a delightful child - adorable, affectionate, nearly always smiling, unusually compassionate - who enjoyed his life tremendously when he felt well. Anyone who met him felt better for having known him, no matter how brief their encounter. We are so privileged to have had him for our son. We miss him so much.

The PHA provide help and support to those who suffer from pulmonary hypertension like Angus, and their families. They arrange a family weekend each year. We attended the one in Sheffield as a complete family and the one this year as half a family because Angus was ill just then. Angus loved his time in Sheffield and thought that we were in the poshest hotel ever! He and I had a lovely time doing things in the all day creche. He saw his first puppet show and was mesmerised by some of the magic tricks. People were so welcoming. We are particularly grateful to all the lovely people we met and friends we made.The understanding and support we received from them was immense and we shall be eternally grateful to them and PHAUK for giving us that opportunity.
