Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I've created this page in an attempt to slacken your purse strings and ask for a generous donation for this worthy cause. MND Scotland is a charity associated with a group of similar illnesses, collectively named as Motor Neurone Disease (MND). These conditions attack the Motor Neurone nerves that carry messages to different muscle groups of the body. This debilitating illness is progressive, which unfortunately means that it will get worse with time. As a result, muscles will weaken to the point where they will no longer do their job, and restrict the use of limbs or any area of the body affected.
My grandmother, Catherine MacLean Henderson, was diagnosed with MND, which slowly caused the degeneration of her muscles and prevented her from leading a normal life. Due to the illness spreading, she lost function across her body and eventually passed away at the age of 34. Not only did my mum and Auntie lose their mother at a very young age but me, my sister and my cousins never had the opportunity to meet our grandmother.
Since I realise it would be unreasonable for me to take your dinner tokens without making a personal sacrifice of my own, I have organised a couple of events.
Firstly, I'll be testing my superpowers by throwing myself out of an airplane on 7th September 2013. If, for some unexpected reason my cape is at the laundrette, I will have a parachute as back up. To help ensure I remember to pull the cord, I will also be diving as a tandem. These jumps can sometimes be unpredictable, with weather and fear of death so just incase we are called off for any reason, I have also included a second event....
Next, I will be taking part in the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow on 6th October 2013. This will be my first attempt at a half marathon but to ensure I win the event, I have enlisted the help of Mo Farah as my personal trainer. We both fully expect that I will finish the 13 miles and destroy a full scottish breakfast well within the course record of 1 hour and 3 minutes.
But seriously, it's not often that I commit to anything, and certainly no cause as deserving as this one, so I would be grateful if you could give what you can.
Truly, thanks
and now the bumf...
