Story
Heaven gained a beautiful angel when our mum gained her heavenly angel wings on the 9th October 2021.
Instead of flowers for the funeral we are asking for donations to the Seashell Trust. This organisation was very close to our mum's heart. Please take the time to read the story below.
Mum was a passenger assistant for a local family whose son is on the spectrum. Mum first met Jake when he was 4 years old. She did the school run for Jake and his family for 9 years up until early September this year. Mum saw numerous different taxi drivers and she saw the contract tender change hands a few times. Jake's family always insisted that mum went with the contract. Too much change would upset Jake and mum was the one constant on the school run. Mum loved Jake as if he was her own and looked after him even through the difficult moments. Jake and his family loved our mum too and always looked out for our mum even when her health wasn't the greatest and she powered through it.
For 9 years mum went to the Seashell Trust on a daily basis with Jake and was well known by the staff. She loved the staff who took care of Jake on a day to day basis. She would always get reports of Jake's progress as well even though she wasn't a parent. She would also notice any changes in Jake during the journey to school and report them to the staff, or warn them if he was close to meltdown. When we thought of charities we could ask for donations for it had to be the Seashell Trust with no questions asked.
The Seashell Trust do some wonderful work and encourage the children and young adults to communicate and to be as independent as possible. Please take the time to donate to this amazing charity.
Thank you from Jenny & Dawn xx
