Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Gaia's JustGiving page.
Gaia lived through fascism, war and persecution in 1940s Italy, enduring hunger, danger, the risk of arrest and death. Her grandmother used to teach her sister piano and she longed one day to learn. That never happened. Grandmother and great-grandmother were murdered. Post-war it was impossible to afford music lessons. But she loved music, song, polyphony, classical music, chamber, choral, symphonic and opera.
We, her children think The Chineke! Foundation is a wonderful charity, Gaia was a person who saw no barriers of race and ethnicity, she saw people and reached out to them. If you knew Gaia, or read her works, or saw her on the media and want to remember her, this is the most fitting way to do so.
