Story
We are taking on the Leeds Abbey Dash for the second time in November and 12 members of staff have signed up to run the race. This year we wanted to help raise funds for MacMillan Cancer Support as they continue to do great work supporting people at terrible times in there lives, including one of our members of staff, whose story is outlined below.
“Our children
were aged just one and two when my wife Sarah was diagnosed with A Non-Hodgkins
lymphoma in June 2014. Thankfully, the type of lymphoma that she has is a
cancer with a good prognosis and we are delighted that the treatment she is
being given appears to be working well.
However, the cancer treatment has been grueling for Sarah and this time has been difficult for us as a family. She needs to make regular trips to hospital for treatment, and the effects of chemotherapy means that a slight cold can see her spending three days as an inpatient on IV antibiotics. One organisation that has really impressed us with their dedication and assistance has been Macmillan cancer support. They have helped with financial advice, practical needs, and emotional support. They provide advice on the side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and they are a source of information and help for cancer sufferers and their careers whenever needed.
We have been fortunate to have the help of lots of family, friends and colleagues through this difficult time - we can only imagine what a lifeline Macmillan must be to those individuals and families who do not have the support that we have.”
We hope you’ll assist us in raising funds and awareness to help Macmillan as they continue to support people through their difficult cancer journeys.
