Trek Kilimanjaro · 29 June 2023

Around since 1923, SAMH currently operates over 60 services in communities across Scotland. These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention, sport and physical activity; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.

Story

Taking our school values of #AIMHIGHER
literally to a new level!

I'm trekking Kilimanjaro for our designated school charity SAMH (https://www.samh.org.uk/) in July 2023.

Why SAMH?

SAMH is 100 years old this year. Research indicates that 10% of children and young people (aged five to 16) have a clinically diagnosable mental health problem, around three in every class, and 20% of adolescents may experience such a problem in any given year. Around one in three people are estimated to be affected by mental illness in any one year.

Newbattle High School

We have amazing students! Our students have chosen this charity which supports people and schools. Schools help young people cope and support them through issues on a daily basis. Newbattle High School has enhanced support within our pastoral structure for mental health, but not all schools have this and that is where SAMH can help people and families.

Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro is close to 6000m (20,000ft) high and described as the roof of Africa". The summit temperature varies between -7 to -29 degrees Celsius. At the summit, there is only 49% oxygen.

Please help fundraise or add your support with any donation that you can. Your own organisation can use this page to help raise support. All support to this charity is appreciated and thank you in advance.

Now for some Munro bagging as practice!
