Story
Given the current Coronavirus pandemic, seriously ill children are facing a minimum of 12 weeks isolation both at home and in hospitals. Children receiving treatment in hospital are being kept apart from their brothers and sisters and parents as only one family member can visit them. Due to the risk of cross contamination, children are unable to share toys and hospital playrooms have been closed.
Future Rays is a new committee of young professionals who want to make a difference by supporting Rays of Sunshine and enabling them to continue providing a lifeline to families who are going through unimaginably challenging times. Rays of Sunshine is a UK based
charity that brightens the lives of seriously ill children everyday – through granting wishes and organising events & outings for children in hospitals. Rays of Sunshine’s event days are a chance for the children to be distracted and feel extra special. A lot of the work Rays of Sunshine does to support these children has been put on hold and their wishes cannot be granted – but the children and their families, who are amongst the most vulnerable in our society, need our help more than ever.
Future Rays are therefore launching their ROS Toyz campaign to help over 500 seriously ill children by raising the funds to send them toys and gifts – anything to bring some Sunshine into their lives. We’ve set a target of 1500 toys, which will cost us £10,000. These toys will be delivered to hospitals all around the country, including GOSH, St George’s Hospital, Bristol Royal Hospital for Children and
Addenbrookes.
On behalf of Rays of Sunshine, the children we're supporting and the Future Rays Committee - thank you!
