Story

Sports Hall Fundraising

As you know, work is well underway on our Sports Hall, which will be opening in the autumn.

With four courts, four classrooms, a fitness suite and changing rooms, this is going to be a wonderful facility for students, both in lessons and for extra-curricular activities.  It will also be fantastic for the local sports clubs that so many of our students attend, as we are keen to encourage as much community use of the Sports Hall as possible, outside of school hours.

Our focus is now on raising funds to make sure that once the Sports Hall is completed, we are able to kit it out with top quality equipment, so that students really get the most out of it.

This is an expensive business.  We have calculated that to fully equip the building to a really good standard will cost £90,000.  This includes the cost of equipment for the fitness suite, cricket nets and equipment for football, hockey, basketball, gymnastics and dance.

We are submitting bids to a variety of organisations, although we know that these sources of funding are currently very limited.

The students, led by the PE department will be organising a variety of fund-raising activities in the coming months.  This got off to a flying start with their recent sponsored Bounce-a-thon which raised over £100.

I am writing to you to ask for your support.  A donation of any size will help us move a step closer to our goal.

·         £50 will buy 5 basketballs

·         £100 will buy a gymnastics mat

·         £500 will buy a set of football goals and balls

·         £1,000 will buy an exercise bike

·         £5,000 will buy cricket nets.

Please don’t forget to register your donation for Gift Aid if you are eligible as this adds a further 25p for every £1 you donate.  If you would prefer to make a donation by cheque or in cash this would also be very welcome.

Donations of £100 or more can be recognised on our Sponsors' Honours Board which will be in the foyer of the Sports Hall.  Donations of £1,000 or more can be marked by an individual plaque on the Sports Hall wall.  Of course, if donors prefer, they can remain anonymous.

If you work for a company who you think might be willing to make a donation as part of their corporate giving, we would be really grateful if you would draw their attention to our campaign.

I look forward to inviting you to come along to see our Sports Hall when it is completed in the autumn, but in the meantime do visit our website to see our video of the progress so far and also to learn more about our plans for the building.

Thank you so much for your support.

Yours sincerely
