Story
The Team
Frederick Douglass 1846 (aka “The Freddies”) are a newly formed team in the Lothian & Edinburgh Amateur Football League. The Freddies are proud to challenge discrimination, champion diversity and support charities that make a difference. Social impact comes first, football comes second.
The Challenge
During pre-season we are raising money for Canongate Youth by aiming to collaboratively run/bike/swim 1846 miles in 45 days (June 1st - July 16th) to celebrate Canongate Youth's 45th anniversary. We and Canongate Youth would really appreciate your support!
The Charity
"Our vision is for all children and young people to be safe, heard, nurtured and given opportunities to realise their potential.
Our mission is to support children and young people who face barriers and challenges as they make their way through childhood, adolescence and early adulthood.
Since 1977 we have been working alongside children and young
people aged 5-25 to provide a safe, welcoming and fun space. We offer a relevant and holistic programme of services to support children and young people with issues they are facing and look at ways we can help them navigate these issues. Our provision includes youth and children’s clubs, holiday activities, employability support, group work, social enterprise café, 1-1 support and outdoor play."
