Update
The Spring 2020 Paris Marathon was postponed during the pandemic and has since been moved to Sunday 17th October.
This postponement has provided us with an extended training period (thanks) and provided plenty of time for niggles to heal (and for new ones to develop!).
However, with just a week to go there is no more training to be done, just a final fund raising push for No 5.
In light of the hardships that all charities have faced over the past eighteen months we are now, more than ever, especially keen to achieve our target and sincerely hope you will help us to do so.
To all those who have sponsored us already a massive thankyou!
What are we doing?
Jamie, James, and Will are taking part in the Paris Marathon 2021 but first must travel from Francis Construction's Office in Thatcham. To do this they will be cycling 240 miles over three days. With day 1 support from Steve and the joinery team and with Nick providing mechanical back up and limitless coffee and jelly beans, not to mention directions, they plan to arrive in Paris on Friday 15th in time to recover and run the marathon on Sunday.
Who are we doing it for?
We will be raising funds for our chosen company charity No5 who provide early intervention services to prevent the development of more serious problems caused by mental or physical ill health or other challenging circumstances, by providing support and advice (in particular, but not exclusively, by providing professional counselling services), to children and young people and their families regardless of difference, background or identity in the ‘RG’ postcode area, since 1971!
Why have we chosen No5?
Over the last few years there has been a year-on-year increase in demand for No5's services (123% over the last 4 years), and they continue to grow and develop to meet the ever changing needs of young people in our area. Last year alone they helped 1,818 young people and their families: 843 young people through their tailored, young person led counselling, 475 through mental health workshops delivered by their Young Ambassadors in schools, 100 through telephone and email support, and 400 parents!
