Why Barnado’s

As the largest children’s charity in the UK, last year Barnardo’s supported more than 382,000 children, young people, parents and carers through more than 790 services and partnerships.

We work with the most disadvantaged children such as those facing poverty or homelessness, in the care system, disabled children, those facing mental health issues, young parents and carers and more.

Sadly, the cost of living crisis is making their situation even worse and more frightening everyday.  Families who once had to chose between heating and eating are finding they're unable to afford either.

Families now, our frontline staff are providing essential support for children and young people whose families are having to choose between eating or paying their bills.  In July 2022, three in five of our front-line staff (58%) reported supporting someone who is experiencing poverty.
