Story
Each year, the ForrestBrown team selects a charity to support for 12 months with our fundraising efforts. In 2020, we have chosen Penny Brohn as nominated by Steph.
Steph's story:
This charity holds a very special place in my heart as in late 2018 my sister Nic was diagnosed with cancer. During the course of her treatment, Nic struggled with finding things that made her look and feel good. Sadly, my sister lost her fight with cancer at Christmas in 2019 but always strived to live well, regardless of the disease.
Penny Brohn is a charity dedicated to helping people live well with cancer in every aspect of their lives, not just dealing with the physical symptoms and cancer treatment, but the mental and emotional impact of the disease. Penny Brohn promotes the message that despite cancer, you are still you and can live as full and positive life as possible. Penny Brohn does this by providing a variety of support, resources and counselling to anyone suffering from the effects of cancer. They also offer support to anyone in a close supporting role, inviting them to the join in with all of the courses and activities in direct support of their loved one.
Working alongside the NHS, Penny Brohn has helped thousands of people coping with cancer for over 40 years and I’m proud to be raising money for them. My ForrestBrown family have been behind me every step of the way and have kindly adopted Penny Brohn as their charity of the year and we will be conducting various fundraising events and activities throughout 2020.
