Story
At Forbes our Housing & Regeneration Team help, support and advise a number of charities, local authorities and registered providers of social and affordable housing and so we see first-hand the impact of the Housing Crisis and the great amount of work that is done by the committed teams who feel so strongly. We had signed-up to take part in Backup’s Spring Sleepout scheduled for April but unfortunately due to the lockdown this could not go ahead, hence us joining in with the Lockdown Sleepout. However we are conscious that those of us with a garden are lucky to have one and so will be trying to replicate the Spring Sleepout conditions as best we can with what we have and of course by staying safe too.
We are very conscious this is a difficult time for everyone, although for the majority of us we are in lockdown with a roof over our heads which we sometimes take for granted, we should really be celebrating how lucky we are to have this. Homelessness is an ever increasing issue unfortunately and charities such as Backup are really important, providing specialist help and support to those young people who perhaps feel unsafe at ‘home’ and so would rather take to the streets or who perhaps have nowhere they can call ‘home’ and given this is Mental Health Awareness Week, what better time to do this…?
