The last sporting event I took part in was school sports day but this August I'll bike 100 miles in RideLondon - way longer than I've ever ridden. Gulp. 

I'm doing this to raise money for the Refugee Council and I hope you'll support me.  They do amazing work supporting refugees in the UK and campaigning for refugee rights.   From packs for destitute asylum seekers, to support for people who have suffered sexual exploitation or torture, they empower people to pick up the pieces and build new lives. 

They also campaign on an issue I feel particularly strongly about - I think the UK should stand up and support Syrian refugees to come here.  This is the biggest refugee crisis since the 2nd World War.  So far the UK has resettled just 143 Syrian refugees, we could shelter many more.   I support the Refugee Council's campaign with other charities to make this change.   

When the place you come from isn't safe anymore, you need friends to step forward and offer you shelter.  The Refugee Council is a friend to refugees who come to find shelter in the UK.  Please give.
