Here’s a list of the items we have been asked to fund for the nnu, as of May 2023. Please feel free to share this page and help us to ensure the best care for poorly and premature babies and their families at St George’s Hospital.
Fathers Day gifts for all papas £400
Milks, snacks, tea, coffee for the Expressing Rooms £25 per week
8 INSERVICE training lunches for nurses each year, £600 pa.
VCreate remote access video system, enabling families to see videos and photos of their babies when they are not at the nnu. This costs £9000 per year (£750 per month or £25 per day)
Reusable cups with lids for hot drinks, to try to be more sustainable at SGH with less plastic disposable waste, to be given to each parent and member of staff - £3.50 each cup
Water bottles for each mum, which are vital for mums expressing breast milk to remain well hydrated, costing £2.50 each
1 digital camera costing £100
Digital photo paper for printing special images for parents and siblings, £500 per year
Memory boxes & contents for bereaved parents at £35 each.
10 breastfeeding pillows, £30 each

Cool bags for mums to use to bring expressed breast milk in from home to their baby in hospital, £4 each
Cotton ‘welcome’ bags given to every baby’s family when they arrive at the nnu, £2 each
Each week we spend £50 providing snacks, cordials, decaf teas and, fruit, soup, porridge, breakfast bars, pasta mug shots, hot chocolate and coffee for families using the two Family Rooms at the neonatal unit.
Weekly Tuesday Breakfast Club for neonatal staff, £35 each week (ongoing commitment to boost staff morale and say ‘thank you’)
