2018 is a year of fundraising for Ashley & Liam Wilkie.
Their daughter, Caitlin Wilkie, is a 3-year-old wee girl from Kirriemuir, who was born with an incredibly rare genetic disorder called Bardet-Biedl Syndrome (BBS).
One of the symptoms of BBS is loss of eyesight. Caitlin’s eyesight has started to deteriorate, and will continue to do so, rendering her blind by the time she hits her teens. Already, she struggles to see in poor light.
However, it is believed that gene therapy is very near to finding a treatment which would halt the progression of Caitlin’s sight loss. It really is a matter of funding - with more money to plough into the research, the time taken to develop the treatment is likely to come down substantially - hopefully meaning that Caitlin’s sight could be saved.
The whole community of Kirriemuir and beyond has come together to try to make a difference to this little girl and others affected by BBS; this is Robertson’s contribution to try to raise both crucial funds and develop awareness of a condition few folk have ever even heard of.
If you can spare any money at all, please, please, make a donation and be part of this effort to transform a little girl’s life. Your support is much appreciated. Thank you.
