Story
I jumped at the chance be part of the 1st Biggar Tinto Scout Explorer Unit’s Expedition to Japan in June 2024. It’s a fantastic opportunity to visit and experience a different culture that couldn’t be more different to my life so far in a rural Scottish town. With 15 other young people and some adult leaders to keep us right, we plan to visit Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka, and meet with Japanese Scout groups.
As a fan of Japanese pop culture, I’m particularly excited to see both the modern and traditional architecture, ride the bullet train, and experience the country first-hand, not forgetting eating authentic sushi and ramen along the way.
The only problem is it will cost about £4000. Which is a lot. As a group, we’re applying for funding and sponsorship, as individuals we’re getting stuck in with fundraisingThe parents have committed to paying a chunk too. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
