Hi! Ich nehme am diesjährigen Rolex Fastnet Race teil und vertrete die grossartige Wohltätigkeitsorganisation Tall Ships Youth Trust.

Wir sammeln Spenden, um jungen Menschen aus benachteiligten Verhältnissen die Teilnahme an der Regatta als Teil einer Jugendcrew des Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT) zu ermöglichen - eine einmalige Chance für sie! Mein Ziel ist es, mindestens 3.000 Pfund zu sammeln.

Das Fastnet-Rennen
Das 695 Seemeilen lange Rennen startet am Samstag, 22. Juli 2023 in Cowes auf der Isle of Wight. Danach geht es nach Südirland und um den Fastnet-Felsen herum, bevor wir die Ziellinie in Cherbourg an der französischen Nordküste erreichen. Es wird eine grosse Herausforderung, aber wir tun es für eine wunderbare Sache!

Die Fastnet Youth Crew
Das TSYT-Jugendboot wird von 13 jungen Menschen im Alter von 16 bis 25 Jahren bemannt, und unser Team finanziert ihre Teilnahme! Die ausgewählten jungen Leute hätten sonst keinen Zugang zu dieser Art von Gelegenheit, und so ist dies wirklich eine einmalige Erfahrung.

Tall Ships Youth Trust
TSYT ist eine nationale Wohltätigkeitsorganisation für die Jugendentwicklung im Freien, die seit 1956 die Fähigkeiten und Lebenschancen junger Menschen verbessert. Die Wohltätigkeitsorganisation bietet jedes Jahr über 1.000 jungen Menschen eine Reise an, die einen Wandel herbeiführen kann. Sie arbeitet vor allem mit benachteiligten jungen Menschen, die aufgrund von Lernschwierigkeiten, geistigen oder körperlichen Behinderungen, Verhaltensauffälligkeiten oder emotionalen Schwierigkeiten oder weil sie aus einkommensschwachen Familien stammen, nicht die gleichen Lebenschancen haben wie ihre Altersgenossen.

I’m participating in the 2023 Rolex Fastnet Race, representing the amazing Tall Ships Youth Trust charity.

In addition to self-funding our own race, we are also fundraising to enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to take part in the race as part of a Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT) youth crew - giving them the chance of a lifetime! I’m aiming to raise at least £3,000.

The Fastnet Race

The 695- nautical mile race will start in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, on Saturday 22 July 2023. We will then race to Southern Ireland and around the Fastnet Rock, before heading to the finish line in Cherbourg on the French northern coast. It’s going to be challenging, but we are doing it for a wonderful cause!

The Fastnet Youth Crew

The TSYT youth boat will be crewed by 13 young people aged 16-25, and our team is funding their participation. The young people selected wouldn’t otherwise have access to this type of opportunity and so it really is a once in a lifetime experience.

Tall Ships Youth Trust

TSYT is a national youth development outdoor learning charity, which has been improving the skills and life chances of young people since 1956. The charity offers transformational voyages to over 1,000 young people every year, working with predominantly disadvantaged young people who haven’t had the same life chances as their peers due to learning, mental or physical disabilities, behavioural or emotional difficulties or because they are from low-income families.

TSYT's fleet of four 72ft Challenger yachts and a 55ft ketch offer young people a unique, physically and mentally challenging residential environment. Everyone sets off on a level playing field with no preconceived ideas regarding backgrounds or abilities. During a voyage, usually lasting at least 4 nights, they develop a range of skills, which can be transferred to their day-to-day lives to help them overcome any barriers and thrive. They equip young people with the skills and empowerment needed to realise their true potential. Their voyages enable young people to develop the life skills, social skills, confidence and self-esteem needed to raise their aspirations and make positive life choices.
