Story
Covid-19 is a global issue that has affected the livelihoods of many the world over. Farmers in eastern Africa are currently facing a double crisis, not only with the coronavirus pandemic but also the desert locust invasion, which is set to worsen the already dire food security situation in the greater Horn of Africa.
Like many other charities, Farm Africa’s fundraising activity has been heavily impacted. Our events calendar is a vital source of income for the charity - Income that helps us to be able to deliver the life-changing projects we champion in eastern Africa. As we continue to follow government guidelines and social distancing measures, many of our fundraising events have been cancelled or postponed.
Please help by donating whatever you can spare. In every £1, Farm Africa spend 94p on charitable activities and 6p on generating funds.
£5 could help to buy 10kg of forage seeds, so that farmers can grow food for their livestock
£13 is enough to provide specialised training for one farmer in high-quality chilli production.
£22 could help to establish a forest products enterprise
£34 could help to buy a goat for a family in Ethiopia
£50 could help to provide a farmer with the means to start a beekeeping business, including a hive, beekeeping equipment and a bee colony
£160 could provide one group of young farmers with high-quality seeds and agricultural training
£450 could help provide agricultural training for forty farmers
£1,505 could help provide a large greenhouse to grow food in harsh environments
It's a challenging time for everyone, but we've seen just how supportive the public have been for the charities they love and believe in.
