Story
FND Hope UK is very close to my heart, in July 2020 my 19
year old fit and healthy daughter suddenly started feeling unwell, she was
rushed into hospital and admitted for tests to determine what was going on.
After 12 days and numerous tests they could not determine what was happening,
and was sent home to recover. Finally in Sept 2020 she was diagnosed with a
condition called Functional Neurological Disorder. This condition affects the
signals from her brain, causing seizures, chronic pain and temporary paralysis
of her body, and we never know when this is going to happen is a living
nightmare for her.
Over the course of 9 months she had to learn to walk, bath,
dress and generally teach herself basic life skills again, with the help or her
family and physio.
FND Hope UK provides a great platform to learn about the
condition, with lots of helpful groups and people you can contact who also live
with this condition. They are pushing to get medics to better understand the
variety of symptoms that people with FND live with on a day to day basis.
Without their forums and information we would still not know how to cope,
anything we can do to help such a small charity would be greatly received.
