Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our Havas FireFlies page.
It’s Mark and Ravi. Ravi isn’t really a cyclist but he, like Mark, feels compelled to climb big mountains - lots of them - to raise money for Bloodwise.
We’d suffer anything for this cause. Its life-saving research is the reason we still have people such as Nicola, our much-loved colleague and friend, on this earth.
But it’s not always so happy. One of Ravi’s vibrant and beautiful friends recently lost her battle to leukaemia, leaving behind her young boy and amazing husband/father/friend.
It’s tragic. It’s heartbreaking. It’s the reason why we’re doing this.
We fly into Innsbruck on 12 June - and ride for eight solid days - to Cannes with our Fireflies family. Covering 1,000km of road, climbing 80,000 feet. The equivalent of cycling up Mount Everest three times over!
The FireFlies is a celebration of life, love and friendship. Yes, bicycles are involved but so are tears, laughter, mountains and uncommon amounts of joy. It’s tough but nowhere near as tough as the fight with cancer.
So please, donate what you can. We pay to do this ride so every penny raised will fund life-saving research into the causes and treatment of leukaemia and blood cancers.
One in three of us will be diagnosed with some type of cancer in our lifetime. Leukaemia is the model of all cancers and achieving a far greater understanding of this disease will help in the fight against all other forms.
As we prepare for our journey, we carry the words that helped Nicola through her darkest of days. “Don’t worry where you will get the strength from for tomorrow, it will come. Just use today’s strength to get through today.”
For those who suffer, we ride.
Love,
Mark & Ravi
