2020 has been a rubbish year for everyone. With COVID-19 affecting everyone, it’s been a tough year. I have to admit though, it’s not been so bad for me. We’ve had periods of self isolation, and had the same frustrations as everyone else, however, we have a warm home, a family and food in the cupboard. There are a lot of people who have had it much worse.
So, I have signed up to spend one restless and cold night sleeping outside without a tent or anything, in support of the Rangers Charity Foundation and their Community Partner, Glasgow City Mission. For those experiencing homelessness, the COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating. You can help to support Glasgow City Mission’s new Overnight Welcome Centre by adding a pound or whatever you can spare to my page.
Every penny raised will be split between the Foundation’s life-changing work in the community and Glasgow City Mission’s new Overnight Welcome Centre. Unlike the Winter Night Shelter, the new centre will stay open 24/7, allowing staff to fast track guests into accommodation and offer additional help and support during the day. Every £1,000 raised for Glasgow City Mission will allow the charity to open this vital centre for a day over the cold winter months.
If you’ve read on this far, thanks. This is a small gesture from me to try and help people close to my work and home who have nowhere else to go every night. An overnight in the cold and wet of my garden will be a one off for me, but a nightly occurrence on the streets for so many others.
