Story
With the ever increasing risk of becoming permanently fixed to the sofa during what feels like a never ending lockdown, we have decided to do something about it, whilst at the same time hopefully raising some much needed cash for The ARCHIE foundation; a charity which helps care for sick children in Scotland (there’s more about ‘ARCHIE’ further below).
*The challenge: Run & Row The Tay!*
Howat & Ewan grew up enjoying sailing on the River Tay, which as it turns out is the longest river in Scotland at 188km (119miles). As such, our self-designed challenge is to travel the distance of The Tay, with Howat running the distance (around the streets of St Andrews!) and Ewan rowing it (from his garage!) during the 28 days of February. We will each have to travel on average 6.7km each day, whilst still working and juggling family life!
We hope that our suffering (particularly Howats!) will bring some sympathetic donations for a charity which does so much to help sick children.
We’ll be keeping a log of our distances, posting updates as we go, and even looking forward to shifting some excess Christmas baggage.
If you are able to donate you can do so here on Just Giving, via Facebook or by cheque if you prefer, thank you for your support!
ARCHIE information
‘Making the Difference’ for close to 100,000 patients every year, the ARCHIE Foundation provides all of the extras that allow an enhanced level of care for local children.

We Buy toys, books and computer games, run art workshops and provide musical concerts in the hospital – often at the bedside of children who are too sick to come to our communal play areas.
