Our community campaign is your chance to celebrate spring, get your body moving and to find connection with the power of nature in urban spaces. Help our organisation survive and thrive in really challenging times.

Story

The SPRING FOR THE CROFT campaign was set up by charity Earth in Common, to help people reconnect with nature, bring people together either in person or virtually and move their bodies to give folk a boost of spring vitality.

I love my Beltane celebrations. But this year on May Day, rather than wash my face in the morning dew instead I'm going to get up before the dawn – 4.45 am! - and be on the croft as first light breaks over Seafield Crematorium. And then I am going to run and run and run (with maybe the occasional walking break) for as long as my skinny legs will carry me to raise money for the croft and the environmental charity that I love even more than my sleep. I am not a runner, only having taken up the hobby a few weeks ago and I honestly have no idea how far I can go or how long. Relax, I am not asking you get up before the dawn. All you need do is sponsor me. Donate £1 for every lap you think I can complete, a lap is 450m. And the winner will get a tour of Trainspotting locations from a Trainspotting expert and dinner and a drink on yours truly. My heartfelt thanks. And maybe spare a thought for me as you sleep. 4.45 am ffs
