Story
Domestic abuse killings double and calls to helpline surge during the coronavirus lockdown.
Women's Aid is calling for at least £48.2m in emergency funding to help local services cope during this crisis. Nicki Norman, Women’s Aid acting CEO, said the funds are "most urgently needed" to ensure the safety of people who are currently at risk.
West Mercia Women's Aid exists to support women and children affected by domestic abuse, and is the lead specialist agency in Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire working with victims of domestic abuse.
Their mission is to reduce the incidence of domestic abuse and other forms of violence in West Mercia, by providing support, protection and prevention services that empower victims and survivors to break free from violence and abuse.
WMWA is committed to equality and diversity and aims to provide services regardless of ethnicity, sexuality, disability, religion or class. WMWA works with women with complex issues including drug or alcohol use, mental health problems and learning difficulties.
Myself (Eva), Ollie and Lily will all run 100 miles in May! You may think that's not much of a challenge but motivation to get moving isn't always easy, especially with the highs and lows of lockdown impacting on mood and energy. We will keep you posted with proof of progress :)
Please help us, to together help a little bit, to a much needed cause. Thank you!
