Story
First of all, thank you for visiting my JustGiving page!
Four years ago, I decided to take a leap of faith by moving halfway across the world to study here in Scotland. It doesn’t feel anywhere near that long – time sure flies when you’re.. studying hard, of course!
Jokes aside, the time I’ve spent here has helped me so much to discover who I am and who I want to be. It is extremely unfortunate that people with dementia can eventually lose this sense of self – their personal identity that has taken them, quite literally, a life-time to develop.
As a medical student now going in to my fifth year, I have seen my fair share of these people suffering from dementia. I cannot even begin to imagine what it must feel like to gradually lose your sense of familiarity with the world around you – loved ones, memories, or even just getting somewhere on the bus.
It’s for that reason I’ve decided to raise money for Alzheimer Scotland, who help provide the services required for people suffering with dementia and also their carers.
With that said, please consider lending a helping hand to these amazing folk, and I’ll personally do my best to give my two helping legs during the ride itself!
Thank you very much.
Erwan
