Bupa Great South Run 2009 · 25 October 2009 ·
Updated 19/10/09
Hi again,
Firstly, thank you so much for visiting our Just Giving page. It's great to have something like this to help our fundraising and i hope it makes things a little easier for you if you'd like to donate to our cause. As many of you know (as we haven't stopped going on about it - lol!) the 3 of us will be taking part in the Great South Run in Portsmouth on 25th October 2009, raising money for SCOPE.
Scope provides fantastic support for disabled people, especially children and their families effected in the early years. It's a charity very close to our hearts and we'd like to do as much as possible to support their work. Their aim is a future where disabled people have the same equality, opportunities and lifestyle choices as everyone else with a focus on education, work and standards of living. For more information, visit: www.scope.org.uk
Now many of you have heard the "hilarious" story of how we've only just realised that the run is actually a 10 miles, and not the bearable 10km that we all 1st thought! For those of you that don't i'll paint a brief picture... Kelly keenly signed up to run some time ago and was so enthusiastic about it that Emma & Lisa just had to join in. For some time training consisted of a daily dog-walk for Lisa, weight-lifting with Luka for Kelly and walking to the bar for Emma, safe in the knowledge that with a little extra effort 10km would be achievable. However, after signing up we then realised the race distance was actually in miles not km's... Oops!
We're now only a week away from the race itself, it's come around so quickly that we had a mild panic last week thinking we weren't ready! However, the training has been going well and we did a good long run over the weekend and feel a renewed confidence. The 3 of us are aset to travel down to Portsmouth on Saturday and many of our family are joing us for support on the Sunday. We're determined to do as well as we possibly can on the day and your support with sponsorship will be a massive help and greatly appreciated. Anything at all you can donate towards our target would amazing, remember every little helps. It really has been a huge boost for us seeing the total rise week after week and seeing how many people are behind us.
We've even been in the local paper! :) http://www.thurrockgazette.co.uk/news/4684328.Charity_run_for_boy_with_cerebral_palsy/
Please visit the site again - we'll keep it updated with a re-cap of the race itself. Keep an eye out for the bright blue t-shirtson Channel 5 at 10:30am on Sunday! We'll also be holding additional fund-raising events like pub quiz's and bake offs so keep your eye out for those in the future, and once the race is over we'll start to set our sights on next years' goal!
All our love... dig deep or we'll set the dogs on you! :)
