Story
In January 2017 our lives changed forever when we discovered Gav had a brain tumour. The tumour (an 'acoustic neuroma') had been causing deterioration in his hearing and balance, and although thankfully it was benign, he needed major surgery to remove it.
He underwent a 15 hour operation and suffered numerous complications in the weeks following, spending the next 2 months in hospital. However he was very lucky to recover well in the next year and return to a relatively normal life.
Last month we received the news that the small part of his tumour that surgeons had to leave behind, has started to grow again and he needs treatment to stop it growing further. He is now waiting to undergo radiosurgery which will hopefully keep it at bay - we are just keeping our fingers crossed this will be successful.
We are so grateful to everyone who supported our 2017 fundraising and given Gav's recent news we now want to try and raise even more money to support The Brain Tumour Charity, who do such a lot of great work in this area.
We are both taking part in the 2019 Brain Tumour 10k Twilight Walk and Emma is also running the Balsall Common 10k and Birmingham 1/2 Marathon.
Please support us if you can!
Thanks,
Emma & Gavin
