Story
Around five years ago I thought it would be a good idea to give skydiving a go.
As I flew up in the plane – and took note of how high I would be jumping from - I realised it may have been the silliest idea of my life.
As it turns out, throwing myself out of a plane just wasn’t for me.
So when I was approached by Breast Cancer Clinical Trials with regards to abseiling from the Harlow Water Tower never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined taking part…
This is why I found it very surprising that less than 24 hours later I was on the phone to the charity signing up. What on earth was I thinking!
But when Hayley Sweet, from the Breast Cancer Clinical Trials, came to tell me what they do I couldn’t help but think I wanted to do something to help.
Not only does the charity fund research into new drugs for breast cancer sufferers, they also do what they can to help women feel their best went going through such a an awful disease.
She also told me they were in desperate need for people to sign up and asked if we could publicise the event in the Broadcast. For some crazy reason I thought I would go one better and do it myself.
So on May 3 I will be dragging my feet to the top of the tower, dressed in all my safety gear and clinging on to my harness.
At some point I am guessing I will take the leap of faith but at the moment I am not thinking about that - my attention is focused more on the glass of wine, or two, at the end.
